SESSION SUBMISSIONSA large number of excellent submissions were received in the two WEHC 2012 Calls for Sessions: 229 in total. After deliberation by the International Economic History Association (IEHA) Executive Committee, 133 have been accepted, many of which have issued Calls for Papers here. In addition to the 133 accepted session are the Presidential and Vice-Presidential sessions and the Local Organising Committee is now busy allocating these 135 sessions across the 5 programme days. An enviable task! Click here to see the full list of accepted sessions.
INFORMATION FOR SESSION ORGANISERSSession organisers will be required to submit the final session name, list of presenters, and order of presenters by 31 March 2012. The deadline for full abstracts and papers is 31 April 2012. If you would like the Programme Secretariat to publicise a Call for Papers for your session, send us an email here. FINANCIAL SUPPORT The WEHC 2012 Local Organising Committee is pleased to highlight the very generous support that the congress has received from the South African Treasury, Media 24, the Accountancy Department of the University of Johannesburg and the Dean of Economic and Management Sciences of Stellenbosch University, Professor Johann de Villiers. Other fundraising initiatives are currently underway but without the generous support received thus far, the staging of this congress would not be possible.
“ON THE STATUS AND THE FUTURE OF ECONOMIC HISTORY IN THE WORLD”Jörg Baten and Julia Muschallik’s study of the first initiative to estimate the extent of the field of economic history is available for download here. It is of particular interest to the WEHC 2012 Local Organising Committee because it includes a forecast of world congress participation in 2012. With your support we hope to meet and even exceed this forecast! CALL FOR POSTERS Don’t forget that WEHC 2012 also includes a Call for Posters. This presents a great opportunity for young researchers in the field to showcase work to an international audience. The deadline for submissions is 1 March 2012.
